KPV
C-terminal α-MSH tripeptide studied for anti-inflammatory and gut-healing properties.

Research overview
KPV is a tripeptide composed of the amino acids Lysine, Proline, and Valine. It is a synthetically produced peptide that represents the C-terminal fragment of α-Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone (α-MSH).
The primary biological activity attributed to KPV is its potent anti-inflammatory effect. Research has shown that this small fragment possesses the significant anti-inflammatory properties of the larger α-MSH parent hormone, but critically, it does so without stimulating the pigmentary (tanning) or appetite-related effects associated with α-MSH. Its mechanism of action involves modulating key intracellular signaling cascades; for example, it can inhibit the pro-inflammatory NF-κB pathway and reduce the production of inflammatory cytokines.
Due to its targeted anti-inflammatory action, KPV is an experimental compound investigated as a potential therapeutic for various inflammatory conditions. The main areas of research include topical formulations for inflammatory skin disorders like dermatitis and psoriasis, and systemic or localized administration for treating Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
