PEG-MGF
PEGylated Mechano Growth Factor with extended half-life, studied for muscle repair and hypertrophy.

Research overview
PEG-MGF is a bioconjugate of Mechano-Growth Factor (MGF), an isoform of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) generated via alternative splicing of the IGF-1 gene. Transcription of this isoform is induced locally in skeletal muscle and other tissues in response to mechanical stimuli or injury.
The prefix "PEG" denotes that the MGF peptide has been subjected to PEGylation—covalent attachment of polyethylene glycol moieties. This modification significantly enhances pharmacokinetics by conferring resistance to proteolytic degradation and reducing renal clearance, extending circulatory half-life from minutes to several hours.
The principal biological function of MGF is to act as a potent mitogen for muscle precursor cells, initiating repair by stimulating proliferation of quiescent satellite cells and expanding the myoblast population required for regeneration of damaged myofibers and muscle hyperplasia. PEG-MGF is an experimental agent used to investigate sustained MGF stimulus on skeletal muscle homeostasis and repair.
